Well, I only started this hobby last June, people had already said how hard they
were to fly, looked around many times and the same thing was always said, But it was
something I had wanted to try for along time but never really got round to it.

Looking round the internet at many forums and such lots of people were saying the best
Heli to start off with was a lama, which are co-axial ( twin main rotors ) one spins clockwise,
the other spins counter clockwise to oppose natural torque, which a normal tail rotor does.

These Helis are very very stable and easy to fly due to not really having to control the
tail the same as a tail rotor Heli, and since trying a co-axial, they virtually hover themselves
with not much input, and to me, did not really give the feel of flying a Heli.

So my first Heli ended up being a Twister V2 FP heli, not bad for the price to start off with,
parts were very cheap also, it came with a bonus pack, spare main rotors, spare tail rotors
and training undercarriage, so the time had come to attempt some skating around the floor
as that's  what was said to do at first, I managed that very well after a few days, and thought
better start trying to actually get it off the ground, well, now we found out how hard it really
was, lifted it only a few inches, it was all over the place, I really didn't realise at that point
how much it would move with the sticks, but tried and tried little hops after little hops until
I started to grasp on how much input to do on the sticks, instead of being heavy handed
with them, after about a week, I finally managed a hover that lasted about 20 seconds, and god
did that feel good :)  it felt great to finally have it sat there in the air.

Even though I was now managing to hover longer and longer it was still rather unstable,
for reasons I was told was due to the Heli being close to the floor and causing "ground effect",
ie..the downdraft bouncing back and causing instability, So we tried a little higher, and was
pleasantly surprised to find I could hover a lot better once higher ( about 2 feet ).

Since then, I can now fly the Twister pretty decently, but only Tail in, no way at all can I yet do
Nose in flying, I keep trying slowly attempting to hover side on, so hopefully in the near future
I will start getting it farther round :), But for now I have been Happy with my progress.

Also I joined the forum over at Heliguy.com
Its a great Forum and has many many people willing to help
lots of Topics on a wide range of Subjects and always very friendly.
